Sponsorship and Exhibition Sessions
VENDOR EXHIBITION As with every IPS Conference, the Vendor Exhibition will be an integral part of IPS 2006. It will be held at the Carlton Crest Hotel, in close proximity to the paper sessions and daily catering breaks will be held in the Exhibition area. It will feature products and services from companies specialising in the field of planetaria and immersive multimedia theatres. The Vendor Exhibition will be your chance to discover the latest products available on the market or discuss current issues with company representatives.PLANETARIUM SPONSOR EVENINGS Two Sponsor Evenings are planned for IPS 2006 when Hypernova and Supernova Conference Sponsors will demonstrate new technology and/or present planetarium material of their choice in the Melbourne Planetarium. Since the Planetarium has a seating capacity of 140 people, the Sponsors' demonstrations will be co-ordinated into a 2.5 hour presentation that will be repeated on the night to enable all delegates to attend. Additional dome time: The Melbourne Planetarium dome will also be made available to Hypernova Sponsors on Friday, 28 July 2006 for follow-up presentations. Please note: these presentations will occur outside the Conference dates and delegates will be required to make their own arrangements to attend.
PLANETARIUM SHOWCASE For the first time at IPS 2006 we will be offering an all-day Planetarium Showcase that will run in parallel with paper sessions at the main conference venue at the Carlton Crest Hotel. A series of 30-minute sessions will be made available to screen the latest planetarium show productions. First preference will be given to astronomy productions produced by planetariums that do not have other opportunities throughout the Conference (such as the Sponsor Evenings) to exhibit their work. These sessions will not be repeated and therefore capacity is limited to 140 people per session. Delegates will need to register their attendance for each 30-minute session on-site during the Conference Registration. Buses will be available to shuttle delegates between the Hotel and Planetarium throughout the day. PLANETARIUM MOVIE NIGHT (to be confirmed) A unique feature of IPS 2006 will be the Night Sky Tour when all delegates will visit the dedicated Dark Sky Site that belongs to the Astronomical Society of Victoria and see the stunning Southern sky first-hand. However, should bad weather conditions force the cancellation of this special event, an alternative session will be run in the Melbourne Planetarium. This session will consist of a Movie Night where our Hypernova Sponsors will be given the opportunity to screen a full-length planetarium production of their choice.
